Can you use a climate control module with rear defrost on a 97 tahoe without rear defrost

I had a Tahoe/defrost hvac module in my extended cab forever and never could get the rear glass to defrost. The little light came on and everything.

And recently someone mentioned that I paid the same money for a hecho in cheena hvac module as a NOS… AFTER I bought it! You would think other people could read minds and maybe mention that kind of thing beforehand. Sheesh
