Cargo light problem

The 1994-up combination cargo light/CHMSL is a little notorious for the circuit paths inside the plastic base going bad with corrosion, so if you're sure you're doing everything else right and it's still not working.......

That's what I'm thinking is wrong... There was a lot of green powder in the bottom of the lens when I took it off.

I took a screwdriver and scraped the contacts but it may not have helped.

i don't understand why this would be wired so weird especially on older trucks mine worked for a long time and one day I took the led cargo lamp(whole LED assembly) out to paint it then when i put it back in the light worked for like 2 days and stopped again but at the same time the brake light always works.
