Whats more expensive doing it once or replacing the entire engine? I had a dyno shop In Ca. back in the 90's I had a customer who brought me a street rod with a SBC it made a 112 hp on the dyno. It had a flat cam. Customer wanted me to put a new flat tappet in it.I replied where do you think all that metal went into the engine? It surely did not take a strait path to the oil filter. I refused. He took it to a shop down the street and returned wanting me to dyno it again with the new cam. It wasn't running real well anyway.So put it back on the dyno. It destroyed itself on the first pull.
