Mr Steve
Newbie
Im back in the gmt400 saddle. I had a 97 Z71 back in 2003/4 with a lift and 33s.
Been lurking for a couple years and researching..
A couple of years ago I inherited my grandfathers 94 Silverado. It sat for a few years. I put $$ into getting it running and it still wont pass smog. Grr! It also needs body/paint and the ac died. And now interior having issues too..
My cousin picked up the same truck but a 98 in beautiful condition. He bought it off the original owner who garaged it and replaced everything, even when not necessary. He was an older guy who was starting to lose it…
My cousin quickly got bored and offered it up to me and i couldnt ****** it fast enough! Now i just need to sell grandpas old truck
The “new” truck is a 98 3 door Silverado with 3:73 gears. In my favorite OBS color, Victory Red.
Interior is 9/10. The “paint” on the side of passenger dash is chipping off. Cant see it when the door is closed.
1998 with 173k original miles. Runs like a champ. Ac blows cold. everything except cargo lamp works (hopefully a fuse).
New ac, new trans, and more. With receipts.
Paint and body is 8/10. Especially for a 98. All original. Clear coat is in tact. A few minor dings and scratches here and there. I got a quote for a new paint job, almost passed out lol. $10k!
My cousin added tint and flowmaster exhaust which sounds amazing. Truck is slow as balls though lol. I added an alarm? Just to get keyless entry (which it didnt come with).
The 18” meh wheels were on there already. Theyll be replaced. I have a set of OG 15” Eagles on the 94 ill swap onto it.
Plans:
Looking at dropping it. Either belltech 2/4 or 4/6. I dont want it to ride like doo doo. Still researching…
Will add a system. I have everything i need except a custom box and head unit.
Will add bedliner and possibly a Bakflip.
Would like a smooth chrome front bumper. I really like the stock look with the side moldings but looks good without it as well.
My son loves it so if there is still gasoline for sale when hes 16 he can drive it.
