Any long term or short term problems with running 1 catalytic converter on one bank and the other bank doesn’t have one on a Y-pipe setup exhaust

I was wondering the same thing, which is why I mentioned this.

Like 618 and Schurkey said, the 0411 is a better PCM but by the sound of things you really don't need it.
I can 1000% assure i am
can the black box do a transmission swap because I think the op is planing to swap in a nv3500 at some point?

Yea I have also confirmed thru a few including Lextech the 98-99 black box can pretty much do anything.. at the sacrifice of having a slower processor …..Except
“ the hard coded rpm limit can’t be changed with the black box.”

I over looked that reply back when @df2x4 mention it.

I may have a couple if not definitely one 12200411 pcm’s up for sale soon here.

My 99 black box is likely gonna suit for what I need done / this is not going to be some big built L31 / just the Manual trans swap and a few Emissions . If I was ever to Ls swap I would do this pin out which is why I may keep one of the pcms.

@Dropped88 is who tuned my 98, he can give you better input.
High flow cats are the easier option, I deleted them because I'm running long tubes. If you're gonna use shorties, may as well run cats.
I probably will run high flow cats just for the ease of ever reselling the truck stock so someone isnt all sketched out’.
Plus I appreciate the fact that Cat converters take up for some of the pungent co2 smells that a cat-less system will offer..
But that prob wont change the fact im gonna tune out the o2s and air injection pump anyways . For sake of future failure and issues.
I think my goal here is to have a 2nd black box tuned how I need it “plug and play” and hold my “factory tuned box “ for keeping..
I can swap that back in if I ever sell the vehicle and someone will already have working cats and rear O2’s. By Keeping cats in place I can have the rest of the dam* weld work done by most any shop.

I believe I have multiple year black box options as I understood it ???

I’m out looking at plenty 4.8L - 5.3L
99-02 trucks right now Dropped88 contacted me and told me if I understood him right even any 99-02 black box from 99-02 NBS gmt800 trucks can also be used on a 98-99 gmt400 Truck plug play same harness connectors?
Or I’m gonna be using a 98 5.7 Tahoe box as a finalized donor box for this Tune

99-02 will be the 0411 ECM not a black box. They will need repinned.
The 98 Tahoe box will be plug and play.

I seen plenty 99-02 with the silver boxes that we’re not even 0411 so apparently the black boxes are in 99-02 hit miss

I think the catch is with my suburban being a 99 model gmt400 they may have gave that extra Obs year the 99-02 NBS connector design and box even tho it’s gmt 400

It seemed like all the 97 and 98 black boxes have a third plug in between the white and black on the top side

...Why are you looking for a black box PCM? Is the one that came in the truck no good?

I don't know where this info is coming from but I don't believe it's accurate. The '99-'00 "classic" GMT400s should have the same black box PCM and harness as a '98. The GMT800s all got 0411s or similar.

It seemed like all the 97 and 98 black boxes have a third plug in between the white and black on the top side

That's the '96-'97. '98+ shouldn't have the small middle connector on top.
