So, this afternoon I made a deal on a '97 ecsb K2500 with a 454/NV4500/4.10s.

I was initially considering it for a parts rig, because any sane and sensible fellow would take one 60 second look at this truck, and run not walk away. But for the price, I'm happy enough with it as a parts donor.

Turns out the girlfriend had other ideas, and named her already. So now I gotta fix her up. Because them's the rules. :anitoof::anitoof:

Y'all meet "Gracie"

Rough does not even begin to describe her. The motor is partially torn apart, interior is in poor shape and needs gutted and redone, I don't know that there's a straight panel on her.

But the girlfriend has absolutely jumped on board with fixing her up. Much faster than I did actually. She was legit excited over this truck.

I'll bring her home next weekend, and then go through the process of dealing with a lost title. Then I can see just what kind of nightmare $1200 bought me. I already have a feeling I'm in over my head, but it's such a neat truck.

Wow, the price is great if there's no rust!

Whats the black stuff just inside the door?

Did you get a picture of the engine? Whats torn apart?
Black stuff is just a bit of leaf litter. There's actually not even that much. And there doesn't seem to be any rust what so ever. At least that I've seen so far. And no pics yet. I'll have some when I bring her home next weekend. But the front drive on the engine is torn down, distributor is pulled, injectors are out, missing the radiator. Probably more wrong with her. Engine is gonna have to come out completely and be rebuilt I bet. From the quick glance underneath, the t-case is absolutely drenched in oil. So gotta look into that as well. Hopefully just the output seal is toast. But there also appears to be another transfer case sitting in the bed. So I dunno.

New projects are exciting, but I wouldn't put anything into it until the title issue is resolved. I lost a chunk of money on a Nova from not taking that advice once.
Yeah. Only money I'm dropping currently is to get her home, clean the crap out of her, and then deal with the title. Not even gonna get a key made until I have the title solved.
