98 ABS REMOVAL

There are a million posts on removing abs up to 1994. I removed the abs on my k3500 and put on an aftermarket prop valve. I really only have one question for someone with more brains than me. I can get my red brake light to come on for a couple of seconds when the key is turned on if I have the abs unit plugged in. I would like to know how to get this to work without doing that. I can't get an emissions test unless that light works. I'm OK for now but don't think I will hang on to that unit forever.
