Does anybody know if the cupholders she bought was from Amazon or something?
Hi, new OBS truck owner here.

I picked up a 1997 Silverado with the 60/40 seats and also did not like that I was missing cupholders.

I removed the top 'notepad' lid and did the mod on the new console lid. Same mod that she did in the youtube video in this thread.

Here is my partlist:

-A New center console lid: EcoAuto Center Console Lid Replacement Kit for 99-07 Silverado in dark grey. -Bought from Amazon
-Brybelly Vivid Cup Holder cups (qty 2) - bought from Amazon
-a 3 3/8" hole saw (already had)
-Black RTV (already had)

Pics of how it turned out attached. I am really pleased with it and it matches the grey of the dash and steering wheel. Also, the new console lid still works and latches fine to the bottom of the console. No cutting or trimming needed.

How do the cup holders sticking down into the console space, affect the available space in it?
Other than that question, looks like something most anyone could do. Thanks!

I love it. Great job. Only thing I'm looking at different is getting shallow cupholders so at least the console can hold a few nicknacks

They do take up some space, but there is still plenty left over for small - medium stuff.
I measured and there is still about 1" to 1 1/4" between the bottom of the cupholders and the bottom of the center console cubby.

The console has more room than I thought and can still fit some 5" high CDs....except I don't have a CD player. ;) I may dremel those CD slots out in the future.

SUBURBAN5, I had the same idea about looking for some more shallow 'cups' but then realized that I use the cupholders more than the cubby.

Appreciated the kind feedback.

This looks great!

This is exactly what I want to do for my CCLB rear seat if I ever locate a console in red. Until then I’ve modified my standard armrest.

That's what I'm thinking about. Mostly need to hold mc d cups, whataburger, coke cans ,and monster. Wife likes water bottles. Long as they hold that with no issues then I'm good. If not, if there like the rear console cupholders that auto eject then that's no good... those are super shallow

I think the cupholders in the rear seat center section (when you fold it down) are for use when the Burb is not moving (like at a drive in movie or if you have a DVD player in the Burb). While moving, all they're good for is tollway coins or holding small toys, Hot Wheels etc.

Some pvc couplers, wood and screws make decent (but ugly) cup holders that you can Velcro or screw into the carpet.

Great Idea... perfect for the useless cassette tape area! LOL Love it.
