4.88 how well would it do with towing 5000+ lbs and what would fuel economy look like. This is a daily driver and will be used for towing sometimes... I had a 04 yukon denali with a 6.0. Stock awd 350-360 hp if I can get this truck to perform likethat did or better ill be happy

Ok so let's say it's still the stock 3.73 I'm keeping my trans. Nv 3500 adding a 5.7 with headers exhaust and intake. It's a daily driver with mild/ heavy towing rarely. What ratio should I use?

Also should I bother getting gears for a 10 bolt or should I get a used 14 semi float then upgrade the gears. If 4.10 will do i can get a 14 s/f in 4.10

You'll never be happy then.....
First of...2004 6.0 was 300hp and 360torque....
2nd.. 96 5.7 is only bout 250hp.
3rd. 2 TOTALY different vehicles.. they will never act the same as each other..

For stock feel as far as gears go 4.56 or 4.88... want more get up and go, go steeper gears..

sent from what use to be a great country...

As far as finding what gears you have... it ain't rocket science here.. take the darn cover off (probably do for a gear oil change anyways) and look what the numbers on the ring gear show or do the rotation method as described above...

Agreed with @magimerlin.

I'll bet its got 3.73 because I'm pretty sure all 4x4 305 trucks came with 3.73 to compensate the low power output

Just throwing this out there, but that's not true at all. Would seem logical, but GM is way too cool for logic. My 4.3L V6 truck came with factory 3.42s. They don't give a damn how much power anything has, they'll throw weird gears in whatever they want.
