thanks...

so I guess they measure just over 11"
Stamping
says max diameter 11.24
GM15622364

So as far as shoes and drum go, is this ringing a bell as to what year truck they may have come from?
Sounds like an 11 inch drum to me.
As far as years, I would guess they came from an 88 to 98 GM

Do yourself the biggest favor possible and ditch the rear drum brakes. Head over to littleshopmfg.com and purchase one of their rear disc brake conversion kits. And I also highly recommend doing the master cylinder upgrade as well. Easily one of the three best things I've ever done for my truck.
:popcorn:That’s a controversial topic to say the minimum.
I also completely replaced every single brake line on my truck with a whole new stainless steel brake line kit. When I first got my truck I was never able to even bleed the rear brakes. I believe there was a clog or a kink in the line somewhere. Once I put the new brake line kit on everything bled just the way it should and the difference in stopping ability was night and day
Most say other than ease of service, the LittleShop “upgrade” adds no additional braking power.
You had clogged, kinked brake lines and then comparing to a new system, isn’t an accurate comparison.

My 93 yukon is JB5.....But Appears I have 11+" shoes..... my drum is over 13" in diameter..
... 6 lug...
Three possibilities for GMT400 rear drums:
254mm (10") Leading-Trailing shoe drums
11.x Duo-Servo drums
13" Duo-Servo drums

Pretty sure the 13" drums were not available on 6-lug trucks, and 254m drums not available on 8-lug trucks.

As said...measure the inside diameter of the brake drum to find out for sure. You have the 11.x drums--a very good system if kept in proper operating condition.

Bottom-feeder junk, probably with less stopping power than the 11.x drums he's got now.

If he's still got the low-drag calipers, the Little Shop of Horrors master cylinder "downgrade" won't be correct either.

MOST "disc brake conversion kits" are crap. Not all, of course...but the good ones will be very expensive. Better to grab the disc brakes from a newer-model truck of at least the same GVWR as the truck they're being installed on.

If what you removed wasn't working properly, especially if it was the ultra-crappy 254mm leading/trailing shoe garbage, it's no surprise that a properly functioning disc conversion feels "better". One problem with the Little Shop of Horrors disc conversion is the screwy caliper mounting system.

That might be true seeing as I did install everything all at one time. But whatever it was that caused the increase in braking power did so in an insane way. I literally used to get scared if something happened causing me to need to stop short. Now even with a trailer I'm not worried.

trying to plug in different vehicles and GM parts giant says no go... but they've been wrong before....
Just want to make sure I get the right shoes and drums...glad I'm checking mine.

This unfortunately hasn't been the case.... I've been learning as I go and never felt the need to look back there.....

Ever since the swap, I've been running no parking brake because cable wouldn't fit I guess so the cable has just been hanging in 2 pieces. It was a mechanic I met at the scrap yard who swapped the rear for a few hundred bucks and I wasn't around..... Figured I'd go and adjust things back there but see it's time for replacement.. Back side passenger shoe is gone..

would be nice to know what I'm dealing with here....

looks like it's possibly from an older big truck...Jimmy...Suburban v1500..etc....

11 5/32" x 2 3/4" shoe?...not sure

I didn't see anything screwy with the caliper mounting system. Simply remove the backing plate for the drum brakes and bolt on the bracket for the caliper. And as far as the master cylinder upgrade that he sells, I believe it's just a master cylinder out of an NBS truck. They bolt right up to the vacuum brake boosters on our trucks, but something having to do with the throw of the Piston I believe gives the pedal a much shorter stroke and much firmer feel.
