I've got an '04 8.1/Allison 2wd in my backyard. Bought it cheap to swap into my K3500, but having second thoughts, especially since my 5.7 still runs strong...

I've got an '04 8.1/Allison 2wd in my backyard. Bought it cheap to swap into my K3500, but having second thoughts, especially since my 5.7 still runs strong...

I plan on doing a thread. I have access to an early (01/02) 8.1 for the right price, and my low mileage 454 is not a happy motor. I'm not comfortable getting into the 454 (it acts like a collapsed valve or cam lobe wear), but I am willing to entertain the swap. Gonna compression test the 454 this week and go from there.
