hey guys i have a 1994 gmt400 with a 5 speed and id like to change the shift knob. On my service manual it says under the boot theres a lock nut for the entire shift knob assembly then it screws off and all i would need is a shift rod from the rubber boot up to the actual knob and it would have to be made by hand and 2" long atleast. Does anyone happen to know the thread size and count for the shifter down in the rubber boot so i can buy a threaded rod with a long nut to screw down on the rod the shifter screws onto

You're not going to find a threaded rod with proper threads. Not sure what the exact size is but it's fine thread, and hardened.
