That is very true I vote 8.1L swap thenYou won't get the torque curve out of an LS motor, and he wants to tow.

8.1 and L29 have the same bore, the 8.0 bore is .02 larger.Piston and rods are out of 8.1l. Cam also, the rest standard l29 based. Factory double roller. Has the oil pump drive stock(no distributor needed if 58x efi)

The 488 mentioned uses pistons that are .020 larger than the L29 454 and 8.1 pistons is what I was saying. It uses 20 over pistons. This specific piston seen better days obviously.

Sorry, mainly wanted to carry the point that rod is metric and piston uses metric pin. Although rods are forged, the hardware used for the rod cap is relatively weak if pushing a lot more power than factory. Both direct replacements for 8.1l(piston when bored 20 over). The 488 mentioned uses pistons that are .020 larger than the L29 454 and 8.1 pistons is what I was saying.
I understood your post to mean you had stock bore 8.1 pistons.
Any experience if accessories on 8.1l can carry over to traditional tall deck big blocks?8.1 and L29 have the same bore, the 8.0 bore is .02 larger.
