383 Vortec

Im looking at a 70s to 80s style 383 sbc thinking about buying it throwing my heads and fuel injection on it anyone got info to help?

I built a 383 from a 76 4bolt block and put Vortec heads on it for my truck. Sweet motor. The flat top pistons and the 64cc Vortec head with the 3.75 stroke makes 11:1 compression. It runs fine on 91 octane if you keep the base timing under 10 degrees. I'm not sure how your computer will handle the timing. I run an HEI distributor and a carburetor on mine.

i want to have 383 power but keep my fuel injection. Anyone know of someone whos pulled this off?

a lot of people have. People do tbi on them

I know people use tbi but i mean spyder injection

You can use spyder injection. The only difference is the manifold

So just reuse the top of my motor and should run but i know ill need a tune.

Why do you want to use a 96-98 block?

i was gonna use a 96-98 block but the kits were more and the blocks the same except older ones had two piece rear main seals
