I've got a 99 2500 with the 350 in it and right at 200k on the clock. I'm hoping it will Be able to handle the task at hand for at least a year until we can get another one ton diesel but we're trying to pay our other vehicles off first and this was cheap and paid cash for it.
It has the big brakes and auxiliary tranny cooler stock along with 3:73 gears and has been well maintained personal friends have owned it for the last 11 years. I put all new brakes and 10 ply tires on it after buying it last month.
The load in question is a 26 foot gooseneck tandem axle trailer 2,500 lbs, a jeep wrangler that's close to 4,000 and possibly a 10 foot slide in camper on the front of Trailer that will be another 1,200 depending on if the deal goes through. By the time all our stuff is loaded also I'd say 8,500lbs roughly total weight being pulled.
Am I going to kill it fast dragging this 2-3 Times over a 300 mile round trip?
Just hauling the jeep on an 18 foot 2k lb bumper pull it did okay and never seemed low on power on the hills mileage was crap as expected but we can burn a lot of fuel compared to a payment for a while.
Forgot to mention the truck is as stock as it gets except no cats. And I put 265/70 all the way around.
