I have a 1994 Burb with the manual transfer case and 3:73's with G80. I bought the Burb 2 years ago from a 78 year old man that had had it since it was year a old and it had 224,000kms (138,000 miles) on it. It now has 234,000 kms (144,000 miles) and I'm getting grinding from the front diff ( everything else has been checked and it is the diff ) and my mechanic says he is not surprised at this but I am because the Burb hasn't had a hard life. Is this normal for these vehicles as I'm sure the 1/2 and 3/4 ton 4 x 4's use the same differential.

not normal and the 1/2 ton uses a different diff if its a gasser(8.25 ifs front), the diesel 1500 burb had the same ifs and diff and 8 lug parts as the 8 lug 3/4 and 1 ton pickups(9.25 ifs front)

usually grinding up front is hub bearings
