1/2 Ton -> 3/4 Ton

In our search for a parts truck, we found a 1994 GMC 3/4 for 400$. My buddies idea was to take the... well everything out of that truck and swap it into mine so i essentially have a 3/4 ton truck. my question is will this work? He says it should but I just wanted to double check before he spent his money of the truck. 292 straight 6 and 5 speed manual.

Other than presumably gaining a 14b 9.5 rear axle/with accompanied 11.15 rear brakes/12.5 front disc, a 4/5 leaf pack, maybe transmission cooling and oil cooling- all legit upgrades, you’ll still have a 1/2 ton frame. I look at it more like a 5/8 ton(maybe get 6600GVW). Also, are you sure it isn’t a 4.3 V6?

i'm sure, he had it advertised as a inline 6 and looking at the pictures it definitely looked the part as well. I'm at work atm but when i get home i'll find the post and show it here

i couldnt tell you from looking at it. the seller didnt state anything else other than what i've told you guys

These trucks never had a straight 6 from the factory in the US market, and the South American ones that did didn't use the 292.
