    5lm60 to nv4500 swap

What all is involved? Do the cross member or drive shafts have to be altered? My truck is a 1990 K1500 with a 350(tbi) 5LM60, np231 and 14 bolt sf. Would it be easier to find an early nv4500 so I keep the external slave?

Noted. Thank you, sir. Looks like it's time to make a decision.

Either induction system would be a learning experience for me as my knowledge base is minimal to non-existent. However, I am willing to put in the time to learn. From what I've read, switching to carburetion requires the installation of a return style fuel pressure regulator, fuel pressure...

I see. I'll be honest, that's way beyond both my mechanical and mental ability. I've been leaning towards carburetion because it's simple and many people know how to tune them. I was inquiring about TBI because the truck came with it and learning to tune it sounded interesting.

More than one person here suggested that I keep fuel injection. Would it be possible to tune this combination with dynamic efi's EBL tuner, a bored tbi unit/intake manifold and fuel pressure regulator? Also, would retaining fuel injection hinder the engine's performance potential vs a 4bbl...

    Fuel pressure regulator & gauge

Recommendations for AFPR and gauges that are installed relatively easily? Would like to ensure that I'm getting adequate pressure and to have the ability to adjust pressure to make the most of modifications and tuning. Thanks

Intermittent SES light after header install

Sounds like yet another reason to get into tuning....thanks!

Intermittent SES light after header install

Is a block off plate all that is required to delete EGR. Personally I'd rather remove it than replace it.

Intermittent SES light after header install

Reset the computer and rechecked codes. Only getting code 12 ERROR CODE DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM FUNCTIONING CORRECTLY . I'll have to take her for a spin to see if the light comes again. Hopefully not. Thanks for all of your help!

Intermittent SES light after header install

I don't recall disconnecting any EGR hardware when I removed my factory manifolds. Is their a port in the head that I may have blocked or something? Thanks. I'll reset my computer today.

Intermittent SES light after header install

My headers do not have provisions for EGR. I plan on installing a 3 wire, heated O2 sensor. No leaks that I know of but I will double check tomorrow once it's light out. How do I reset the computer? Thanks, Eric

Intermittent SES light after header install

Decided to pull the codes from the computer via the paperclip trick before spending any money. 13 Oxygen sensor voltage stays between 0.35 and 0.55 volts for 60 seconds. 32 EGR open command did not change MAP sensor signal. Normal EGR flow should cause slight decrease in manifold vacuum...

Intermittent SES light after header install

Update: exhaust is finished(2.5" true duals) still getting SES light when driving on the highway. Going to install a 3 wire heated O2 sensor. Will update once complete. Thanks

Intermittent SES light after header install

O2 sensor has less than 1000 miles on it. What I meant to say was that I had a O2 sensor bung welded into the header reducer. The O2 sensor is not damaged. Hopefully having the remainder of the exhaust placed on the truck mitigates the situation. Thanks

Intermittent SES light after header install

SES light Have had a SES light come on two separate occasions since installing long tube headers. Currently running open headers(exhaust is getting fabricated on 8/18) light shuts off after stopping at a red light or stop sign. Is it possible that my O2 sensor isn't staying hot enough? Would be...

Long tube headers & dipstick tube

Thanks for the suggestions. The OEM replacement literally "fell" into place once the header was removed. Bent the tube down slightly to clear the header. So far so good. Hoping to finish up install tomorrow. Can't wait to fire it up. Has almost been a month

Long tube headers & dipstick tube

After many failed attempts and 2 broken oil dipstick tubes, I was unable to successfully reinstall the oil dipstick tube with the longtube installed. I ended up removing the header to reinstall the factory dipstick tube and now I'm wondering if I'm going to have issues reinstalling the header as...

They seemed like a no brainier. I know you recommended a single plane but I'm really wanting to make a boat load of torque early in the power band.I've read good things about edelbrocks rpm air gap dual plane intakes for Vortec heads. Supposed to be 1500-1500 rpm. Your thoughts, anyone?

You guys with Long Tubes; O2 Sensor Extensions Needed?

I had to solder a 8" section of wire into the stock O2 sensor relay for my Hedman long tubes to work. However, I had the O2 bung welded into the reducer.

Thanks for your input. Would I be better off running a single pattern cam? I've read that they tend to produce more mid-low end torque. Also, I came across Promaxx performance Vortec cylinder heads. They have 64cc combustion chambers, 2.02" intake/1.60" exhaust valves and a larger, 185cc...

    Oil dipstick tube reinstallation

Bought a new dipstick tube and broke that one as well while trying to install it. It seems as though the angle of entry is impossible with the header in place. Looks like I'll have to remove the header, install the oil dipstick tube & try to "thread" the header over the dipstick tube..... This...

Copy on the square bore. Not sure what I was thinking there. Won't a single plane intake manifold hurt low end torque vs a dual plane one?

    Oil dipstick tube reinstallation

Had to remove my dipstick tube in order to install my passenger side header. Cannot get the oil dipstick tube to "seat" completely into the block/oil pan. The flare/flange is approximately 1" from contacting the block. I installed it from the top with the starter in place. What am I doing wrong...
