    NP246 Compatibility

Just in case you don't already know how bad the stretched chain thing is, my 243 did the chain slop thing for a week before the T-case broke nearly in half. Don't use the truck much before you change it out.

Help with diagnosing 4X4 problems '97 K2500 Suburban

I just broke the case of my NP243 case a couple of days ago because the chain was worn out. I thought I had a while to repair it because it didn't appear to be too bad yet. I got a very mild scraping noise under acceleration for about a week of short commuting before it blowed up really good. I...

    1995 K1500 - Replacing trans with 2003?

I am in the middle of a '98 4L60 to an '07 4L70 swap myself and have some info you may need. I'm still working on finding if the electronics plugs in or not but the plugs look very similar. So far however, I know that the main input shaft length is different between a gen one motor and gen 3...

electric fan, stock fan clutch, flex fan

Don't go with a flex fan. I had one and they are way loud and don't cool as good as the stock one. Water pumps, IDK.

    Cams Vs. Emissions

I have an LS-1 with a cam that passes great. I know it's a different engine but a similar cam should work for you. I have a comp cams with 222/224 duration on a 112 lobe spacing. I would think that a cam of about 225 (at .050) duration should pass easily. Also this last part is my own idea...

    3/4 Ton Lift Springs

I did 3/4 ton rear springs on mine but to get rid of the lift blocks, I added a shackle flip. It works pretty good but it's kind of tight when the truck is empty. I hate lift blocks and the shackle flip is cheap and easy.

    Towing with 35's and 4.56's or 4.88's

I've got 4.56's but with 31's. It's great for towing but a little short for running empty. The 4.88's would be about the same gearing with 35's as 4.56's with 31's so I'd say 4.88 for towing duty.

Over 1000 miles now and the fluid looks (and smells) good and all is well so far.

4L60 almost went boom, How long do I have now?

About a week ago, I had a trans cooler line blow off and dumped all of my trans fluid out. I have a 3 yr old Finishline level 2 towing trans. I refilled it and it's running good now and I'm curious how long it will hold. It is shifting smoother now, it was kind of harsh before, so it kind of...

K2500 or K3500 Leaf Springs on a K1500? Yes or no?

I did a 14 bolt and 3/4 springs when I lifted my truck after I hated the stovk springs and lift blocks. I also changed to shackle flips to get the lift I wanted. I hated the blocks but absolutely love it with the 3/4's. It does ride bad unloaded but it no longer wallows like a pig when it's...

    Where is the proportioning valve?

No B.S., This is really what everyone who goes 14 bolt on a 96+ truck has to do? What about finding a junk yard ABS unit for a 14 bolt? Will it work? Any additional stuff needed?

    Where is the proportioning valve?

Since I have a '98, that means that the proportioning valve won't work, right? How does one reduce line pressures to the rear on the late model trucks?

    Where is the proportioning valve?

Just what the title says, I converted to a 14 bolt and life is good but i have WAY to much rear brake. The heavy half's and 3/4 tons have a different proportioning valve and I got one but I can't find it to change. This is way embarassing.

400 build from the bottom up, any advice?

I am interested to see what comes of this. I too have a 400 block and I'm gonna be building it for my L31 replacement. I'm planning on 10 to 1 pistons and a high torque cam. Don't know on heads yet but a FIrst TPI intake.

What have you heard about Pro Comp lifts?

I've had a procomp for three years. It was originally sent with lift blocks and u=bolts. It handled really bad until I put shackle flips and 3/4 ton springs. Now it's much better. Other than that, the front has been fine and no complaints. Just my 2 cents.
