    Brake vibration/shaking - LONG

After reading other threads here I am going to look at the following. In no particular order 1. Check tire pressure and rotate tires 2. Check driveshaft and U joints 3. Inspect all front end parts again (I put on a new Red Head box last year) 4. Read ABS codes - Please suggest a code reader...

    Brake vibration/shaking - LONG

Thanks for the reply. I understand how the Posi lock works. My boat is 7000 pounds and if the tide is not at its highest point the ramp is always slippery so the front wheels almost always lock and skid until you step hard on the brakes and fully engage the rear drums. As I thought through it...

    Brake vibration/shaking - LONG

My "spring sound" I assumed was an automatic ABS test because it occurred only once at exactly 10 mph on the first acceleration after starting. Well I had the ABS activation noise when the system was actually doing its job like on snow or ice.

    Brake vibration/shaking - LONG

I am asking here and receiving great information on where to look because I want to have an idea of where to start. I need to have a plan that is hopefully correct when I go back to Alaska. ABS light question. I installed a Posi lock 4x4 front differential actuator on my Suburban this summer...

    Brake vibration/shaking - LONG

I am not sure what system I have but I believe it is 4 wheel. The collapsed brake hose mentioned sure sounds like what I have going on. I did replace both front hoses 5 or so years ago.

    Brake vibration/shaking - LONG

I have been reading threads and trying to figure out where to start. I am narrowing it down to the ABS system but I am unsure. The difficulty is live in Nevada and the burb is in Alaska with limited resources for help. The suburban sits most of the year and has only seen 18000 miles in the last...

K2500 4x4 replacement lower control arms. Need help please.

I have searched and searched without any luck. Maybe I am calling them by the wrong name. I have a 1993 suburban K2500 4x4 with the stamped steel lower control arms with the riveted in ball joints. The shop wants $1000 to replace 4 ball joints and I have found through searching this is a...

    ABS noise?

1993 K2500 suburban 4x4 I have a strange whir/buzz noise shortly after starting my suburban. It lasts 1 -2 seconds and then never again while driving that time. I really have no idea where it is coming from other than drivers side firewall (ish) After reading through threads there is a pump...

Need experienced rear disc swap people 14 bolt

So I have looked and searched and have a few questions about a rear disc swap on a 14 bolt. My rig sits for as many as 6 months in Alaska when I am away. It is usually cold and wet where it will be. Think Seattle or British Columbia. The drum brakes often stick. If you would please let me...

EGR valve ??? two wire or three wire? CONFUSED

So here is what I have. Apparently this is the EGR solenoid most commonly found on 454 and 4.3 engines. I am not sure why it found a home on my 5.7 though. The eBay seller ctmss4284 makes very clean high quality electrical parts for our vehicles. He called me directly to work through this...

EGR valve ??? two wire or three wire? CONFUSED

I have a 1993 K2500 suburban 4x4 base. All of the diagrams I find show an EGR solenoid with a two wire connection and mine has a three wire solenoid. I ordered a harness for a three wire heated O2 sensor with a great design that Ts into the EGR harness since it is fused and ignition switched...

Heated O2 sensor upgrade question. Is there a fuse?

Thanks for the replies. 77Impala as for my reasoning for the upgrade - I don't think my suburban will spend a lot of time warm enough so the one wire oxygen sensor can work. I have a 3 inch exhaust and my rig will be in Alaska and spend a lot of time on very short trips. The theory goes with a...

Heated O2 sensor upgrade question. Is there a fuse?

Thank you for taking the time to reply! I went out and checked and the ones marked WHT are always hot. I found one marked ORN ( old eyes so not sure) that is switched. Could that be the one? I need to take a light and my readers next time I go out there:)

Heated O2 sensor upgrade question. Is there a fuse?

I have searched and can't seem to find the answer. My burb only has a 1 wire oxygen sensor now. I will be adding a 3 wire oxygen sensor and don't know if it is fused or not. I have only found a thread that said a fuse was not needed. That goes against everything electrical unless the heating...

1993 Blend door shortcut - The difficult one behind the glove box. Tic Tic Tic!

No worries at all Richard. The clean way would be your method or removing the dash. Im building a basic fishing rig for our cabin and this route was so simple. The plug that fills the hole looks fairly factory and it will make it easy if I should ever need to do it again while im on vacation...

1993 Blend door shortcut - The difficult one behind the glove box. Tic Tic Tic!

So when I bought my 1993 suburban it came with the famous tic tic tic every time I started the car or shut if off. In the short run I simply unplugged it and started my research on repairing it. I will be shipping it to Alaska so I need the ability to regulate outside air. You just can't get...

Big 3 and battery cable fusible link question.

I got the new battery to starter cable run today. Here is what I found out. The cable from the battery to the starter is 2 gauge as specified by GM. This is not part of the big 3. It supplies power to the starter. So as to the second wire connected to the battery with the fusible link. It...

Big 3 and battery cable fusible link question.

I have been looking and can't find my answer. 1993 Suburban I have installed a second battery tray and will be installing the Big 3 upgrade with the second battery initially connected + to + on the batteries and dual grounds to the intake manifold. I will add a 1/0 or larger directly from my...

Possible starter problem. Have a question.

I agree. I will just change it out. Is there an American made reman or new. I have done an internet search and other than racing staters I have not been able to confirm the country of origin or remanufacture.

Possible starter problem. Have a question.

1993 Suburban with stock 5.7 My starter continues to spin at times after the key is returned to the run position. It does not spin like power is still being applies to it. It is a 3-5 second whirr as the starter slows down. The problem is intermittant and has not caused any problems yet...

XJ Steering Shaft Upgrade (88-94 Trucks) 95+instructions on page 31

My first post. I just completed this swap on our 93 suburban cabin rig. Thanks to all who have posted previously. It was as straight forward as it gets. Went to PnP after lunch and had it installed within an hour. While I was heating and separating the two shafts the top rubber joint...
