Hey guys. Just bought this truck. I noticed it had a new 'chrome' ignition switch

My truck is a 1994. When I turn the key back (radio and windows) it doesn't give power to radio and windows.

I looked in a catalogue somewhere and it says chrome ignition cylinders may have been from a 1988-1992? Would this make a difference? Was there no accessory back then?

Anyways any help would be appreciated!

I would check the ignition switch(further down the column) and adjust or replace it as needed...

I've never removed one or taken it out. Is the culprit in the cylinder or in the steering column you guys figure?

Could be either... does the key cycle easily in the column? Into all positions? If so I would think that part is ok. In the column attached to the key(the tumbler) is a cogged slide. That is what the key cylinder moves to activate the rod that goes down to the ignition switch further down the dash. So if that part feels good I'd suspect the switch further down the dash is burnt up..

Key cycles fine. I've never dealt with column electronics but there was an alarm installed previously that I've ripped out.

I will do some more digging and check into this. Thx for the help guys!

When buying this switch it comes with instructions on how and where to place it when installing look up a video on You Tube and accessory should be turning the key towards you when in the drivers seat and being chrome doesn't make a flip and the only reason it is black to matche ones column.

Start looking at the video at 4:15 I have done it without dropping the column but it's not my first rodeo.

If that fails go to your local parts house ask for the switch and read the instructions that are in the box then tell the parts guy thanks I just wanted to read how to install it and where the key should be clocked at for all to work right.
