Vortec head swap

Ok hey everyone how's it going? I'm kinda new here but a member. If I did a head swap from the swirly heads to vortex heads would I need to swap cam as well? What year would work best on my 93 Sierra tbi engine

Nope, but you'll need a new intake. The cheapest option is a spreadbore Vortec intake with a flat plate adapter. A squarebore intake isn't wide enough and shrouds the throttle plates.

You definitely don't have to, but if you've ever wanted to upgrade it, it's a good time to knock it out since you'll already have your rocker arms and lifter rods out to remove your heads.

These were once dirt cheap, not sure how hard one would be to find now. The slots were machined properly for the square bore to mount a 2" bore TBI without restricting it. Mercruiser/Volvo Penta Marine stuff. They ran them with a cast iron version of the Performer RPM square bore on 305, 350 and 377 engines.
