956moe, that thing is sick nasty clean. How did you get the paint so clean? It's so clean it looks too good for the moldings. I kind of dig those stockers. Your truck being so clean with a perfect stance, makes the wheel look bigger does it not? Really nice work but I think that body should be entirely smooth and red! No molding. Front windows could stand to be a bit darker :evillol: but very nice work man...

Cowlboy I would never lower a 4x4 but for some reason I have a feeling yours is going to be a beastly lowered truck with a sick stance. I'd love to see a cepek under it but this will look great too.

I never had a problem with running illegal tint in Texas.

In the 10 or so years that I ran limo on every vehicle I owned, I cannot count how many times I was stopped for tint. Only a few of those times was I let go without a ticket. The last ticket I got was $185 and that was my breaking point. If you get a ticket from the DPS in this county, you'll be looking at nearly a $300 fine. Hell, just last week I was stopped in my CTS by a Trooper for tint. The AS-1 mark on the CTS allows for a very large eyebrow, which is why he stopped me. My eyebrow is just barely past the mark. He said he wouldn't have bothered me if he had known. My front doors were right at the limit (26%) and the rear doors metered at 2%. He was working with old information when he told me the rear doors have to be 25% also since they changed the laws to remove restrictions on them again in 2009, but I didn't argue since he only gave me a warning.

I have only done it for 3 years but have never been questioned about it and I have been pulled over multiple times in the past couple of years. Technically he could have ticketed you for the tint on the front, the law states that if the as1 line is more than 5 inches that the 5 inch mark will be the line for the tint. At least that is the way it is for inspections.

Trust me. I'm more aware of the laws than even most cops are. I try to look up the Texas tint laws a couple times a year so I'm up on them. You'd be hard-pressed to tell me something about the tint laws in this state that I'm not aware of. I know he could have ticketed me if he wanted, but I also know that with as close to the AS-1 mark as the eyebrow is, combined with the fact that my front doors are perfectly legal, it will likely never be an issue. I have never actually gotten a ticket for an eyebrow. I have an 11" eyebrow on my '91 and have only ever received warnings for it.

The exact verbage for the eyebrow size:
(b) This section does not apply to:
(1) a windshield that has a sunscreening device that:
(D) does not extend downward beyond the AS-1 line or more than five inches from the top of the windshield, whichever is closer to the top of the windshield;

If you want to get really technical, even if my eyebrow was of a perfectly legal size, it would still be illegal since it's a 5% eyebrow. The eyebrow tint should also be 25% or lighter. If a cop knows this, though, he'd have a tough time proving it since their meters can't windows that aren't roll-ups.

From my considerable experience, eyebrows aren't of a huge concern to cops doing tint stops. What it does do is give them a valid reason to stop you so they can check the side windows to see if they're legal or not.
