The E locker is nice in snow and ice. A mechanical locker in bad weather can be hard to drive. Both have there pros and cons I would pick the E locker you can simply run unlocked for snow and ice but in the mud and rocks lock it up by a switch when you need it plus in the ice and snow when you do have that bad day and find your self in the ditch you have a good chance of getting out when you hit the switch. just my 2 cents worth
Good advice. Imo lockers are much better in snow and ice. Much easier to get going etc. Just have to know what you're doing.

Yes I agree. I was just trying to get the point across of how versatile the e lockers are. But in the snow and ice it's all about control some people just can't drive in it I never worrie about me I worrie about the others that can't drive in it lol

So without reading more than 22 pages of "stupid" questions and brilliant answers.... i have decided to post a "stupid" question. 92 c1500 2wd what would be the easiest option to go from "one wheel wonder" to leaving number 11's all over the place.

I have a 95 3/4 ton 4x4 burb with a 350 and 8600gvwr. It has rpo code gt5 (4.10 gears) and G80(gov bomb) yet is semi floating. I see lots of full floaters running around. Do I not have a ff because it is a 350? It is 8 lug.

I wish I had 3.73 because cruising at 70 it is around 2400 rpm.

I would think being 86000gvwr it has to be a ff unless a PO changed the entire rear axle.Have you used 4hi or 4lo? Any strange noises?

Yes. GM gave out FF with a Big Block or Diesel at that GVRW. Small blocks could go either way
