Hey guys... Im reposting here and there im hopes I can get an answer here, & hopefully help sum1 else out...

Has any1 had any issue passing smog tests in CA after the 411 swap..? I heard that it will not pass because the pcm will read as a 02 chevy express van... And I think just on looks... That in CA u can not swap pcms... I mean sure I could just swap my old black box in but c'mon re-pinning once is hard enough im not trying to do this every time im going to smog... so looking 2 hear back from u guys especially u Californians...

I don't live in California but here's some stuff that may be relevant to your situation:

You may need to change the VIN on the PCM to read as a different vehicle using something such as EFILive.

You may also have to correctly apply ALL emissions equipment e.g., "EGR, O2, AIR, EVAP, Charcoal Canister, fuel tank pressure sensor and level, etc..."

Has anyone tried to find a better (mid harness) connection for the extra wires needed from trans on 1998-2000 Vortec? Seems like a long way from trans and a PIA from dash. The wires have to be somewhere inbetween?

its not that far from the trans, a few feet at most. there is no mid harness connection for the trans wiring. you could unravel the harness and splice in at another point, but unraveling the harness will prove more difficult and time consuming than just using a little extra wiring and connecting near the trans.

Much Thanks

Thanks for doing all of this for us Jeff. I got started doing the cross reference myself, and got yours right after I started, saving me a pile of time and I appreciate it. On a quick glace I know you took a lot of effort to do this spread and that it's good to go. I can't wait to get it flashed with EFILive now... :Violin:
