While I don't have the exact setup-- I do have gutted cats.
Honestly, I can't wait 'til I get new ones. Stock exhaust (until I get my 3" installed) it sounds a lot better but the rotten-egg smell is not worth it.

I have tried and tried to find this rotten egg smell I hear so much about....the only thing that's come close is the new DEF stuff they put in transit buses now....that **** burns the hair outta my nostrils.

O man when cats go bad you will know the smell. We had a car come in for an inspection one time with a bad cat, I was the only one that was able to stay in the shop while the car was running, but I had to since I was inspecting it.

To answer the op's question, I had the exact setup you currently have, then I lost the cats, then I lost the mufflers, then I put the mufflers back on. I loved the sound but I was dumped all the way at the rear bumper, and I had no x pipe. I also have no idea what the question about the setup is.

Remove what is left of your cats and replace it with pipe. My 98 has the cats replaced with pipe and no smell. You must have some of the guts still in there....

When I did my new exhaust, I went ahead and bought Magnaflow cats.

From what I understand, as long as your cats are not plugged, they cannot decrease performance on engines like ours, especially if we are running aftermarket mufflers/larger piping in the first place.

I chose to get them for a variety of reasons. Mostly was because if you ever decide to trade the vehicle in, they will do some sort of visual inspection and make you pay for cats if you do not have them (In my state atleast.) Or so I've heard... Also, I hate the empty tin-like sound these trucks get without them. JMHO

IMO anyone that even has a thought of removing cats, take them off and sell them NOW before they go bad, I got $120.00 from a core buyer for my 2 cats.

I'm running true dual 2.25's with flo-pros dumper before rear axle with NO turn downs.

Once those rust out, or I get some extra income, I'll be getting flowmaster 10 series mufflers instead.

Where did you get $120 for yours?
