I'm referring to something like this:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Sierra-Tah...EM-15766343-BLUETOOTH-CAPABILITY/282779716721

I like the tactile buttons/knobs--a lot easier/safer than looking at a touchscreen. But I'm not sure of the reliability of the retrofit.

On the other hand, a new stereo with all the features--including backup camera capable--might be a better bet. Be nice if I could find a unit that's not all touchscreen.

And after listening to a couple other guys modest stereo systems, their 50 watt amp does wonders for a system.
Eric puts one in his dad's Gmt400.

Do urself a solid and get a 4x6 plate speaker , that way you get the clarity of a component set and the round 4" gives a bit more bass than an oval 4x6. I've been installing car audio equipment for the last 25 years and have not heard a single 4x6 that sounded worth a crap lol , but heard some pretty good 4x6 plates tho. Get yourself a set if bass blockers, hpf at 80hz and all should be good.
I agree totally. Round speakers will always outperform oval shape or square shape.

I've got a 97 extended cab and installed 6.5" Focal components in the front doors, and Infinity 4" components in the back. For base there's a 12" sub in a box. made for under the seat behind the driver and I have all the base I'll ever need. I also set all the crossover points on the amp to the sweet spot for the speaker in question, so the door speaker won't try to do the low end base intended for subs. 1 farad capacitor also helped to tighten up base.

Not bad, I'd strive for 5v preamp outs if you're hooking an amp up to it. You'll pay a little more ($30-50), but it's worth it in my book

Our trucks desperately need a big 3 ( I call it a big 4 tho) desperately! Bigger wire from alt to positive on battery, a mounting bolts from alt to negative on battery , and negative on battery to fender wall, also need bigger wire to replace from battery positive to the main fuse block infront of the brake booster. It'll get rid of the wandering volt gauge on em. Definantly sounds like u got a good sounding setup, our trucks have a ****** soundstage but takes power to over come it and when u get there they sound awesome tho!

I'm there. Ran 1/0ga to alternator power and ground, more to fender wall from negative battery, and 4ga to fuse block. 225A alternator as well. Plenty of headroom for lights. Don't need any more sound than the 2 pairs of infinity 6.5s in the front and the 4" plus 1" tweets in the back along with my kicker 12" L7

I have 1/0 big 4 and an ad244. Damn volt gauge still moves with the blinkers...

Ha, I don't even look at the voltage gage except to note that it's reading somewhere over 12V. It's inaccurate, though mine didn't move with any loads applied, that would be annoying.
