An FYI that block at the firewall on the passenger side where the engine harness passes through - it's not actually a plug. The disconnects are inside the cab closer to the ECM. That piece that attaches on the firewall is just a chunk of plastic that seals the hole. I never looked hard enough at one to see if it could be removed without damage, to swap with the other style. Might be possible...might not. Regardless, with an earlier harness you also have that TPS difference I mentioned and possibly others.

You are ahead of the game if you know how to solder. If not consider learning how. Some of those wires could have their junkyard counterpart soldered on. Match color codes and shrink tube the finished connections. Looks like about a day's worth.

That's what I was thinking of, unfortunatley all the trucks I found 2wd. One is 4x4 but was unavailable. Going to see IT tomorrow and another one being parted out locally.

For a drop-in, 1991-1992 only :( because 1988-1990 have the different shape block where it passes through on the firewall. Another reason, 1988-1990 have the large flat 3 pin TPS connector; 1991-up have the small round one. Yeah if he wants to get handy with a soldering iron and some shrink tube, he can adapt as needed, but the 1991-1992 harness is the easiest bet.

Wait, if I found a truck that was a 93 with the 700R4 would that work ? Or do they have another glaring difference ? lol I went again to three different yards and couldn't find a single 91 tor 92. Found2 93's don't remember if they were 4x4 though

There's no 1993 models with 700R4. They're 4L60E, first year for it, and the harness is substantially different - mainly the section that goes to the transmission.

I might just end up getting a old harness and buying a new TPS sensor, I'll have to see one guy from KY has a 1992 4wd and I'm trying to see if he still has his harness.
