How to: Install DIC in gmt400 overhead console

The difference between the DIC without mode and the one with is a matter of more than one wire difference. I believe I ran 7 wires to mine. It's most likely reading nothing because it doesn't sense that the truck is running.

How to: Install DIC in gmt400 overhead console

Mine does that when I turn the key to on but the truck isn't running. It displays fine but reads what you're seeing after 30 seconds.

    Viper (DEI) vs Compustar DIY

Hi all, I've installed a few DEI remote start/security systems in the past for friends and family. All of which are still working great, now it's time to install one in my own vehicle. Any input on Viper vs Compustar for a diy? I like DEI because I can change settings with or without the...

    Evo versus standard power steering

The shim would make the relief valve open sooner and give you less pressure. Looking at the piston on the left with the blue spring, that's not a gm spring and is why the nut is bottomed out. Gm used shims or no shims depending on if you ordered a Yukon vs a 1 ton truck with a plow package, the...

    Evo versus standard power steering

Anyone reading this now, the relief valve shown in the pictures does not dictate how the steering will feel, it is a relief valve. If you hold your steering wheel at full lock, this is the valve that prevents you from going beyond that point because it will relieve pressure. A lot of people end...

    Bad Vibrations

Hi all, been trying to chase down a driveline vibration for the past couple of years now. 98 GMC 4x4 1/2 ton with a rcx 6" lift. I get a vibration that starts at 70 mph and doesn't go away even if I go faster, I also get a vibration for 1-2 seconds when I let off the gas going 50mph and over...

    Steering Box Differences (88-98)

From what Ive read, 88-98 steering gear boxes are interchangeble but there is 3 different models used at least throughout the years. I need to know the internal differences between them like ratios and whatnot.

    Steering Box Differences (88-98)

So after having removed the EVO Fitting on the back of my 98 K1500 power steering pump, i found that my steering is way too easy to steer on the highway. After doing some research, I was told to swap my gear box with one out of a 98. I also found that the P# for the 96 trucks were only used for...

    96-98 Vortec Alternator Upgrade AD244

I ended up taking both of my batteries out and installed a friends new Optima battery, the truck was charging at about 14.3V initially and after approx 7 min dropped to 13.8V although It was charging at 72A the entire time at idle(the load never varied). Using a hydrometer, I found out that one...

    96-98 Vortec Alternator Upgrade AD244

Are you saying to disconnect one of them and see what the alternator does? If so, I have not done that, I will try, it wouldn't surprise me if one of them is dead, I should maybe install a battery isolator and new batteries.

    96-98 Vortec Alternator Upgrade AD244

13.8 V with no load, at full load (all accessories on) It was charging at 12.5V/ 85A. My problem is, my batteries (2) are always dead, 11.8 V when the truck is off, everything worked great when I had installed it, trying to determine whether I need a new alternator or batteries.

    96-98 Vortec Alternator Upgrade AD244

To anyone who has installed the AD244, could you measure the charging voltage of the alternator? The most I'm seeing is 13.8 out of her at idle and 3,000, output drops to 13.2 V sometimes, I'm trying to figure out if that's the proper "factory set" voltage or if I simply picked out a "dud"

No Lights at 4x4 Dash Selector

So I've had my truck parked for 6 months now (Welded in new body panels), took out my truck for the first time, no lights on the 4x4 selector switch, next day, started her up, 2wd was light up, couple days ago, no lights, couldn't shift in 4x4 and this time I really needed it. I am an...

Upping the stall speed on my 96 4l60e 4x4

It will be useless buying a high stall converter unless you buy a cam. Install a cam with a power band of 1500-5500 then install you 2000 stall, your current cam has low end torque to help you get a load moving when towing, installing a higher 2000 rpm stall with a cam that makes peak power at...

    Speedometer/tire size issue

Well, installing bigger tires always changes the way your speedo will read. How do you know it is accurate now? are you using a gps app on your phone? Your computer is programmed to perform a 2-3 shift at 35 Mph at 70% throttle, 40 Mph at 76% throttle so on so forth (those were just random...
