Ecm delete possible?

Finally picked up another project. Someone else's half done Cummins swap into a 96 k3500, originally a 5 speed 6.5, now a 12 valve 5 speed. The fabrication/mechanical part is easy, my main question is if the ecm can be deleted or if it's crucial to gauge functionality on these trucks. On my...
