    Truck won’t start!

88 GMC C1500 5.7 350 Never had problems with starting it. Took it out the other day to do a side job. Was at the job site for 2 hours. Went to leave and my truck wouldn’t start. It’s been a little cold so I hooked up jumpers from another car, thinking maybe that was it. Nope. When I turn the...

Hole in back of my throttle body…

I connected a hose from that nipple above the carb to the valve.

Hole in back of my throttle body…

Yes the pcv is routed to the pcv port on the carb. Just looked at a edelbrock diagram and it’s correct.

Hole in back of my throttle body…

Yeah I think that’s what I need to do.

Hole in back of my throttle body…

I would assume it’s a vacuum leak, but the truck runs good. I’m assuming that hole under the air filter should be running to that valve cover

Hole in back of my throttle body…

There’s a hole in between my air filter and carburetor, wondering if there should be a hose coming from there going to something else? I did some research and it might have to go to this hole on the valve cover? The screw on there has tape on it and I feel it’s not correct. Thanks!

Brake lights dont work with DRLs on..

So the bulbs were indeed installed incorrectly, and noticed they were rusted on the inside, so I went ahead and replaced them. Now, the driver light works perfectly as it should. The passenger light, the brake light is dim, and when the running lights are on and I press the brakes, the lower...

Brake lights dont work with DRLs on..

Okay parking lights would be the correct term I guess. When you turn on the ambers and rear tail lights but not the head lights

Brake lights dont work with DRLs on..

1988 GMC C1500. Okay, so I just noticed when my DRLs are switched on, my brake lights don’t work. Everything else works as designed. With the DRLs OFF, the brake lights work. When I have a turn signal on, the brakes work as well. Hazards work. Signals work. Literally everything except when DRLs...

Carb swapped truck, Code 34, need help

    1. I wired it to the windshield washer motor white wire, as some research said was a decent idea. 2. I have no clue what any of this oil pressure switch stuff means I was going to run power to ignition in the fuse box, but the fuses that are empty don’t have any metal in them.

Carb swapped truck, Code 34, need help

There is a regulator, just before the carb, it’s set to 5.5. It’s the little silver round dial one. Electric choke is not wired up. That’s the next thing I’m doing.

Carb swapped truck, Code 34, need help

Pretty good. My only concern is I put in a brand new fuel pump and sending unit and it’s still tough to start when cold

Carb swapped truck, Code 34, need help

1988 GMC C1500, bought it from a redneck who did redneck things. Carb swapped to an edelbrock 1406 (not me). Finally checked the code and says code 34. Everything I researched said it’s the MAP SENSOR. I found these two going to nothing, I’m assuming it’s for where the MAP use to be? I have no...

    How do I fix this?

Bought this truck a few months ago. Just got around to inspecting all the details and saw this. Engine was rebuilt and the Edelbrock 1406 (I think) was added. I’m not mechanic but I know this ain’t right. The electric choke isn’t hooked up either :(
