I used the alex parts springs - they are cheap and wrk well - they come in two tensions ( which is based on how they are heat treated - otherwise material is the same) NO machining and good for .550 lift - the Beehive springs are better in consideration of spring surge ( E behave better in...

dont need a lot of machine work - the "alex parts" custom spring kit drops right in and good to .550 lift - which is .050 more lift than you need with a vortec head because they fizzle out after .490 ...

Knock sensors will allow you to run an aggressive timing profile for max cyl pressure and save your motor when you hook up the trailer and head for the grapevine -specially you folks who are using hyper explosive pistons like Kieth black

There are no secrets anymore with fast bleed lifters -why? Rhodes patents have run out. The only mfg making fast bleeds are Howard’s ( Harvey Crane used to make them too ) and I don’t think they still make them because there is a lot of distressed inventory around. Because they you dont know how...

the "tuning hell" was the cost of the computer upgrade because the pre-1998 computers are obsolete as far as the tuning world is concerned. Sure you can tune them, but the cost and scarcity starts making it of questionable economics. Look at the insano quotes for some mailorder tunes like...

Well, you said " . . Rhoads V-Max lifters tame the thing around idle to the point it pulls 18 in/hg @ 650 rpm. The rhoads lifters make the cam smaller on the low-end but the full duration and lift extend the powerband above 4,000 rpm. With them I was able to bump the cam size for more power but...

Actually the machine work in Mexico was freekin horrible - not 6 sigma - look at the deck RA value on the VORTEC blocks - lousey .. BTW - this 203 203 uses the lobe off the 203/210 factory cam .

Agreed on the "bit off" - this is because this was on a digital cam checker - the differences are meaning less because they are small - BUT- this is the actual measurements from a stock cam - VS specs - what is the tolerance on a factory cam ?

109 LSA is a recipe for tuning hell with the MPFI - but some people have to experience the pain .. the 203 203 is the biggest drop in cam for GMT400 that wont give you computer grief period - that is the only point I am trying to make - PROFLO or Carb - have at it - by the way, the VORTEC heads...

Ran some EAP Simulations on the Delta Camsafts ( Tacoma Washington ) 203 203 regrind - almost no advantage to going to bigger Comp or Howards cams - the 203 is a little down on torque from the stock L31 - but the 203 203 has a broader torque curve and makes more horsepower - I have it in a 1998...
