Got a odd noise, . . . At times !

This is kinda strange, but I have what sounds like a 'rod knock' a Deep internal knock, in my 90's 305. I already know I should could of, and need a bigger engine. But it only knocks 2-3 times in the morning, But it only knocks below 40 degrees temperature ??? And the engine only has 21K miles...

That's hard to believe, I was just at the summit page and I didn't see anything, (Power wise) for less than $2000. But once I get past $2000 there seems to be quite a few, on the Jeg's speed pages there's ATX engines, and at Chevrolet performance site everything there is at or above $2900.00 and...
