    Daily truck pics

Some more, not all 400s.... 2 door was at the Northern Tool Friday, when brother and I came out the door from picking up a couple of things. Funny to see the longest and shortest 400s in the same lot. The transmission guy has me intrigued; his truck looks well kept so hopefully he knows what...

Some from the last week or so....red GMC CCLB is Rawhide's cousin Jimmie, saw him in the vendor parking at Roundup. These were either in Austin or on the trip up....

Cragar S/S look great on the 5 lug trucks. My buddy Bernard used to have them on his 2 door Tahoe when he had it., and one of the trucks in my old 'hood has them on it.

    Worst OBS mods

I've seen several 1500 OBS trucks lately that seem to be getting away from the "how big of rims can I put on this truck" thing. They're running 18s or 20s, not the donk wheels like a few years ago. Saw a real nice looking RCSB today that was running aftermarket rims, but they fit the wheel wells...

Another one I'm surprised nobody mentioned: those nasty ugly Range Rover--esque grilles with the headlights that look like a two year old stuck some dot stickers wherever..... Those were hugely in vogue in the Hispanic community about 10-15 years ago here in greater Houston area, and thankfully...

Pillar grab handles could actually be handy(pun intended) if you actually use the truck for work and need to get into the front of the bed.

1998 GMC c1500 sierra missing front and rear sway bar

Post up pix when you get it, and get it installed. I'm thinking this is something Rawhide could use.... Every once in a while the yards get a 400 dually in, but I'm not sure that bar would swap in a SRW truck....

    starter bendix gremlin

Oh Kay.... whatever was actually happening inside the starter...I heard it turning, but the drive wasn't engaging with the flexplate teeth. And then the next time we tried it, it'd work fine. So I replaced the starter as soon as I could buy one. Put new GM bolts too.

I like the U Pull And Pay setup a lot better, but they're much farther away from me. And since they sold out to/got bought by Pull A Part, their prices have gone up and they don't have any more "discount days". Sometimes they have a monthly special on certain categories of parts, this month it's...

    starter bendix gremlin

One of the problems on my Burb then, was that loose terminal. One of the others was that the starter was grungy and had oil in it, and on the mounting surface. The major issue was a corroded battery cable. Fixed all 3 and no more problems. That starter lasted two more years.... This past...

    starter bendix gremlin

I have had the smaller terminal on the solenoid (the one that goes to the ignition circuit) be loose on the Burb's starter (before the one that's on it now; I had a hot start issue with it several years ago and that was part of the problem). So it's entirely possible that the big terminal could...

Yep. The girls in the office that ring you up at LKQ don't really know that much about cars, so I find myself explaining what things are often. And then there's some things they just don't have a code for anymore, like sealed beam headlights. I think the last set of quad beams I got, they...

The Denali and Mom's Chrysler Pacifica had heated seats. Great for relaxing tense muscles on the way home....after a 13-14 hour day, most people would be sore.

I'm thinking that's how it's put together...but I'm not 100% sure. I've been busy and not slept much, since I was working on that part of the truck.

    Free to me GMC 2500

When we had to replace them on our other 99 Burb, Dad bought the GM ones from the dealership parts department, because he didn't know they were available in the aftermarket. IIRC they were around $35 apiece then, 15-20 years ago. I bought one from O'Reilly's last year for Rawhide, because my...

    Door card insert Material change

Having had the door panel off my crew cab recently... IIRC the piece that has the velour glued to it, has staples holding it to the plastic, that are folded down on the backside of the panel. Also, if you decide to cover this piece, be advised that the covering material shouldn't be too thick...
