Yeah I replaced the idler/pitman arms as well. Everything but the steering shaft and column have been replaced. The gear box was a parts store reman. Have you seen or heard of anyone doing a rack and pinion swap on these trucks ?
Got an 89 C1500 that I have replaced the rubber disc on intermediate shaft, upper and lower ball joints, inner and outer tie rods, and the steering gear. I've had it aligned and there is STILL slack in the steering. From dead center I have about an inch or so of steering wheel movement before...
Yeah I think that sub what I'll do is make a stroker. Although I know a guy that has a 406 from a dirt track car he's selling. Would prob have to throw a cam with a lower rpm power band and I'd be golden. He said it made around 6-630 with the carb.
The direction I was thinking I suppose ( and feel free to tell of it's not obtainable ) was to build something around 500 horse and use nitrous to get the last little bit. The EFI kit I have can control the nitro for me which I would like to do. Plus a 100-150 shot kit is relatively inexpensive...
I don't believe it was a TBI motor. I think it's an 883 block or something like that. Yeah I was afraid the thumper cam was more of a sound rather than perf cam.
