    K2500 Suburban Rear Axle Replacement

Update: I finally had time to get back to the Burb. Pulled the driveshaft to have it balanced before Christmas, all the shops at 2 weeks waits so I just decided to put the driveshaft back in. As I was installing it I noticed that the yoke was wore enough I could feel a slight hour glass...

we've jacked it up and spun the wheels, things look ok but still vibration. Tires are new, wheels seems straight and we've moved them around to all positions with no change. Also drive the wheels in the air without the tires and wheels, still vibration.

I can't be sure, but we tried to check it. And after all this work it seems that it doens't have the orginal rear end because the brakes are 3.5 inch shoes, I think it should be 2.5 inch shoes. Who knows with this thing.

Thanks Steve for the feedback. I've tried pushing the shifter into neutral, the vibration is still there, turning left, right ,accelerationing, breaking, ... still there. Tires are new and we rotated them around with no effect. I noticed when I took the driveshaft out that the yoke was worn...

    K2500 Suburban Rear Axle Replacement

Well, yesterday I changed the hubs and axels from both sides. No change to the vibration. Even thought the right rear wheel now spins perfectly true, that wasn’t my vibration source.next step going to take my driveshaft to a place that can spin it faster to double check balance. If it’s not...

    K2500 Suburban Rear Axle Replacement

Saturday update. Picked up the rear axle from the salavage yard, pulled mine apart ( my brake shoes are 3.5" wide, does that mean my axle isn't original? ) then went to take the passenger side hub and axle out. Can get the drums off ( either side ), studs were bent. So, I tool the axle back...

    K2500 Suburban Rear Axle Replacement

I measured everything on my rear ended and went back to the salvage yard this afternoon. There was 3 3500 trucks with FF 14 bolt, all missing glove box, so no rpo codes. I measured them all ans they fall seemed the same as the same as my axle. 2 were 2wd and 1 was 4wd. I was able to Jack two up...

    K2500 Suburban Rear Axle Replacement

I tried to look up JB8 vs JD7. Seems JB8 are 10,000 lbs GWV. But savage yards tell me the 3500 14 bolt, 10.5 SRW trucks would work, but not the 2500 trucks. So confused.

    K2500 Suburban Rear Axle Replacement

I have JD7, but I don't really know what the difference is. If all 2500 truck 14 bolt, full floaters are JB8, would it swap and bolt in?

    K2500 Suburban Rear Axle Replacement

Hi all, first post, awesome site! I have a K2500 suburban, 7.4L, 4wd, full floater 10.5 ring gear rear axle that has a bent rear hub after an accident, vibrates at 65mph, I've confirmed its the right hear hub. So, I want to replace the rear axle or just the hub and axle. I haven't been able...
