    looking for paint codes

There was a debate at the time, GM said DuPont's sealer was the problem. DuPont said GM short-cutted the process. IDK if the finger-pointing was ever settled. Anyone here know? In the town where I lived, the GM dealer set up an outdoor tent in the spring and hired a crew of guys JUST to strip...

    looking for paint codes

Light colors would peel b/c uv light can penetrate light paint easier (more than dark colors). It then creates a powdery layer on the sealer GM used at the time (and Ford too), ...which then would cause the paint to flake off. Whites, silvers, light blues, etc were the worst. GM repainted a lot...

    Cab and Bed Mount

That's really common in the upper midwest, even when frames aren't as rusty. Water (rain) gets between the cab and the box. Rusts it out. A guy can cut the frame apart and section in a new piece. They DO make a cab/box bracket. It doesnt look 100% stock, but a lot easier than making one from...

That was one of the more attractive two-tone combo's back then! :waytogo:

JB Weld on accessory bolt studs in aluminum heads?

Did you ever put a tap in there and clean the threaded area out well? And shoot a bunch of carb cleaner to make sure it's crystal-clean in there? JB Weld works great and I could tell you some really good personal JB Weld stories. You would be able to get those studs out if you epoxied. Just...

    GMT400 - Community Scan Tool

I think he meant 'OBD Vehicle Connector'. The scanner cartridge is 1999 ...so it's OBD2 by nature. And backward compatible with OBD1 (to 1981 vehicle's ...or '80 1/2).

Having the known GM taillight issues. Who makes the best aftermarket tailights? What are yall running?

Then I must be your 1st lieutenant! :waytogo: Plus LED bulbs at a higher cost, seem to go flaky way faster than I like.

Having the known GM taillight issues. Who makes the best aftermarket tailights? What are yall running?

The issue I was seeing on the circuit boards is tightening the circuit board too much warps it (due to the foam gasket), and leads to a connection problem, or a crack on the circuit board. It's difficult not to tighten it all the way, but go easy on the screws helped me. I have had good luck...

Are door handle gaskets available separately?

Possible. They're kind of a hard rubber or soft plastic.

    How should I repair this!

You can use just normal clear epoxy on SMC. Like the clear dual-syringe cartridges you can get at a home center. And fiberglass strand. Do the prep work, then apply your fiberglass mat, mix the epoxy and apply the epoxy over the mat. Work it in so the fiberglass get's constituted into the epoxy...

Solid rear window to sliding window

I personally love the one on my RC tk! It allows so much useful ventilation on summer days where ya don't want/need AC. For me, where we live and the way I drive, I really never need a/c (doesn't work anyway lol). I've never had any fumes come in (my exh is stock style). My other truck doesn't...

    Slowing down rust

I didn't think vehicles in S Cal rusted like that? Is it from the midwest?

Are door handle gaskets available separately?

The rubber/plastic gaskets which surround the outside door handles on my truck ('89) are dry/brittle/aged/shrunk. The handles themselves are fine. I've cleaned and lubricated them. Really no reason to replace them. Are new gaskets available anywhere (separately) w/o buying new outer handle...

    94 GMC K1500...can't read data stream OBD1

Good work. Did you get the CEL to illuminate? It should show the location in your manual (if you have one). Or aim a strong flashlight to the cluster. Should see it. It's always possible the ECM is toast too, or the circuit board corroded (or have you inspected it?).
