I ran down the troubleshoot chart in my gm service service manual. Icm, coil, and wiring. All signals test good as per gm's spec. The only thing that is out of spec is the pickup coil at 500 ohms when gm is calling for 700-1500. Both the original and new distributors pickup coils are reading 500...- Jebadiah

It didn't start before so that's why I changed them. Would be the reason my post said it came for crank no start issue. It's just intermittent apparently- Jebadiah

Sorry, this is a very late reply. I should have mentioned that my 93 is carb swapped. I had a 91 that I was working with different gauge clusters before. 89 k1500 slow to return to idle between gear changes.
Update: located problem. Temperature sensor for ecm (the one on top of the intake) was reading an inaccurate ohms value. Replaced the sensor, brought it up to operating temperature, idle dropped like a stone. I can now achieve smooth transitions between gears. Thanks guys!- Jebadiah

Thanks for your input. I just got done checking for vacuum leaks and found the egr vacuum line was cracked so I deleted the egr system. Throttle moves freely and snaps shut as soon as you take your finger off the lever. Would a sucked tb gasket or worn throttle shaft cause this, or would it just...- Jebadiah

Sorry I forgot to mention it is an 89 1500 2wd and the driveshaft is indeed there. I have it on jackstands at the moment and can rotate the driveshaft while it's in park. At this point I have all body parts stripped off the frame so I'm actuating the shift mechanism at the Trans by hand.- Jebadiah
