Problem with '91 4L80E
I do know that a bad Ignition module that intermittently fails to send the tach signal to the pcm will cause a 4l80e to lose 4th gear. When you shut the truck off and recrank it, 4th will work until the ignition module acts up again- GMC Josh

Yea i have one with a flatbed. You HAVE to wear your seatbelt when you drive it. Otherwise the roof os going to give you one hell of a headache- GMC Josh

The tranny was replaced before I bought the truck. It looked low milage because when i dropped the pan, there wasn't really any metal dust on the magnet. The fluid was still pretty clean and red. I do agree with you about the interchangeability being common. After more research, im leaning more...- GMC Josh

Rear Brakes Locking up - HELP
Make sure to look inside the rubber boots on wheel cylinder. Had that problem on my 71 and everything looked dry. I pulled the boot away from the wheel cylinder and quite a bit of brake fluid came out.- GMC Josh

I have searched all over the web and found a lot of conflicting information on this issue. I have a 1991 GMC 3500HD with a 5.7 and 4l80e and 5.13 rear. It has a jasper rebuilt transmission since before i got it. It shifts hard from 1-2, but shifts smooth in all other gears. It always has a Dtc...- GMC Josh
