    5.7 vortec flooding

Did you get another poppet spyder, or the updated one with the mini injectors at the end of the line?

    Weighing my options

Stock L31 is 9.4:1 and it runs 87 just fine. Aim for the same and you should be alright. You are going with the roller block right? I've been researching this too for a while now and am going back and forth between an LQ4 Gen III motor or a L31-383. Stock LQ4 will be about the same money...

How to: NBS master cylinder swap for firm brake pedal

    Good to know, thanks.

    Cam and Lifter kits

There are a lot of them out there actually. Comp Cams has a lot of different grinds for this engine. More or less, what you are looking for is a cam for a roller lifter Gen I, SBC. Also the stock heads can't tolerate much more lift then stock, .475 if I remember right. So, you'd have to swap...

    4L60E issues; slipping OD?

They are also cheap enough that since you are in there you might as well replace both. You'll spend more in transmission fluid. I belive they are same part numbers as well. I'd also check the wiring to both while you are in there.

No lock up could be your TCC valve...any codes, particularly P1870?

How to: NBS master cylinder swap for firm brake pedal

This looks like a cheap way to give the pedal some more bite. I've got 1-ton calipers on my K1500 already and I upgraded the MC to the JB7 unit from the original JB6. It's got bigger drums in the back cause of the semi-floating 14-bolt too. My question is should I still get the 1/2-ton MC...

Is this signs of a bad master cylinder?

Bench bleeding the MC will save you a lot of headache. Did the new one come with a bleeding kit (couple of clear tubes, plastic fittings with nipples on them that thread into brake line ports, and couple of little hold down clips)? Get them if you don't have them and pump that MC piston with a...

    Aluminum Vortec Heads?

Sorry, but the link does not work for the aluminum heads. Regardless if they are aluminum or not, as long as you have a correct carburated vortec intake manifold and a adapter for the TBI you are more or less in business. Cam choice will really be up to you and what you want out of it, I'm...

    Steering Stabilizers

I had a good amount of bump steer before replacing the suspension components. The slop was so bad when I'd hit some water, or from bump steer that it was almost scary how much the front end would dance around. Even with some play in in the steering gear box all of that is gone after replacing...

    Aluminum Vortec Heads?

Sorry, but the last link takes you to the Edelbrock Vortec, MPFI intake manifold. You could run it with the vortec heads, but then you'd have to upgrade to MPFI, a 411 ECU, wiring, etc., etc. At that point you might be better off with a L31, L31-383, or a LSx swap. Just a running L31 will be...

    4L60E issues; slipping OD?

If I were in your shoes, I'd do the work myself. I'd replace the TCC valve with the upgraded one and the 2-3 solenoid. With the fluid and a new filter this will run you less then $100 and you don't have to take the transmission out. Even if it does not end up being either one and you need a...

    Steering Stabilizers

No. Your tie-rods, ball joints, bushings, idler arm, pitman arm, idler bracket, and steering box are to blame if you've not replaced them recently. Could be one of those, a few, or all. I replaced all the above minus the steering box and it made a world of difference. Look at your ball...

    LS1 or 383?

I've looked and looked and looked into this. It's up to you really. In either situation you will have to get a 411 ECU conversion to get the most bang for your buck. In both situations you will need to beef up your 4L60E, or get a 4L80E. With a 411 tunning a 383 is the same as tuning the LSx...

    Worth it to rebuild?

265,000 miles on my '96 K1500. I'd not worry about driving it cross country at a drop of a hat.
