1991 chevy c1500 trans rebuild or shift kit?

So my question is if I should rebuild my transmission or just install a shift kit the transmission has 44000 original miles and the fluid is still red and does not smell burnt I was looking at pro built automatics and I want to build a trans that shifts smooth at part throttle but tire chirps at...
