Is it a little low, ya maybe. It could be you're pressure sensor or gauge going bad though. You could try a mechanical gauge just to double check the factory one.

Imo if the engine runs good an isn't making any noise then I wouldn't worry a whole lot. I would be a little easier on it though.....

I will definitely keep that in mind!

oil pressure

Do you ever go over 4500 rpm?

I totally disagree about the oil pressure being 10lbs per 1,000 rpm no no no.I do agree with the person saying at idle being around 40 psi and normal driving being around 60 psi.My 4.3 vortec 257,000 miles to date idles cold at 60 psi and when warm idle just over 40 psi and normal driving 55/60/65 mph about 60 psi.Just my opinion but 20 Psi cold warm whatever is not satisfactory no way.

'96 5.7, 210,000 miles.

25 psi @ hot idle, in gear
35 psi @ hot idle in park/neutral
45psi + hot with any throttle at all, almost 60 psi on the freeway.

45 psi cold idle
55 psi cold driving

I recently bought this thing and put Castrol Edge full synthetic 5w30 in it. All readings are with this oil.

Yall should drive my s10. 70-ish pounds cold going down the road, 45 or so hot. 40ish cold idle, check gauges light comes on hot idle lol. One thing most folks don't realize is that if the low pressure is caused by worn (not destroyed, but well worn) bearings, the pressure is that way because more oil is flowing out of the crank, thru the bearings, and back in the pan. Not necessarily a bad thing. Mine may not have much pressure at idle, but its got a lot of oil flow and don't make any racket so im not worried about it. Biggest thing to look for is the pressure climb with rpm.
