Upgrading glow plug main feed?

I am half-way planning on upgrading the main feed from the battery to the glow plug relay on my car.

I have already upgraded the harness from the glow plug relay to the glow plug, added a manual glow relay and Bosch duratherm glow plugs. It does however strike me that the main feed to the glow plug relay looks like a sewing thread - probably awg 9ish.

My big question here - does anyone have any good reasons not to upgrade the main feed to a (fused) awg 5?

Nope. It is a good upgrade.

I thought so myself - until I saw that the duratherms Are 11v!? But i suppose the batteries will drop down no matter what seg I have with such a load!
