My trans is going, I'm debating getting a core and trying a rebuild myself.
This guy . . .
about 9 minutes in starts talking about the Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) issues on 1995+ transmissions.
Does anyone have a strong opinion on the two solutions he offers - basically turning it into on / off or going with the Sonnax kit? I'm mainly concerned with longevity - if there is a MPG effect it would have to be significant for me to risk longevity for the MPG.
Also, it seems like my core transmission options are less than I thought based on some changes to the transmissions throughout the years. Seems simplest to limit myself to a 1998 core just to eliminate that variable.
Thank you for any opinions.
