TH 400 shift linkage, does it need a cotter pin?

Hey guys, I am preparing to install my TH 400 shift linkage. In this one particular spot I forgot if I need to install a cotter pin like clip (area 231 pictured)..Hopefully someone can chime in!

I think 232's cotter pin is attached as seen in the pic...I might just try to install some sort of "pin lock" on 231, I seem to recall when I removed 231 that there was something-- I should have taken a pic..
