First off I have had 8 gmt400's so I know the issues with the taillight circuit board and I am just going aftermarket.
I want to use some factory replacement gmt400 taillights on a heavily modified s10(my 14th s10). Its a bit complicated as to why and it will get us off topic. Just know that the gmt400 lights have the curvature and size to work dang near perfect with the rest of the truck.
I want to set the lights into the thing so they are flush with the body. But of course I need the housing/bucket that the light sits in so I don't need to make them from scratch. Brace, cut a slightly smaller hole, modify said hole so everything's tight, weld them in. Easy
The issue I am running into is I can't find any "new" replacements of this upper corner of the bedside or 3/4 panel. I need to either buy new bedsides ($400) or cut up a 20 year old bed ($200-500).
I don't want to cut up a good bed just for the taillight area. But I will if I need to. Maybe I can find one minutes from a crusher in a junk yard or being scrapped. But I would rather buy new steel if possible.
I am hoping one of you guys might know of a source where I can buy just this taillight area of the bedside
