Swap from semi floating 3.42 to ff 3.73

So I have a 94 k2500 with the 350 and nv4500. It has 3.42 gears. I was at the boneyard the other week and stumbled across a 6.5 diesel burban. Check rpo codes and it was a ff 3.73 gears with the g80. Trying decide wether to swap rearends or keep the 3.42s. I do some towing. I also push snow with the truck. A friend I work with said I would regret it. What is your opinion fellow gmt400 owners???

You should swap. No Brainer.

The FF is a much better, stronger setup than what you have now. I have the FF with 3.73s and the NV4500; no complaints at all, it's solid.

The only issue is that you would need to match the front with the 3.73s if you want to use 4wd.

That is a no brainier. Upgrading the axle along with gears, easily a no brainier. What would be your friends reasons why you would regret it?
