You have no idea how glad I am to find this thread. I've got a 94 rcsb c1500 that I've been debating on engine swap options. My dad has a friend that put a 500 Cadillac in a gmt400 back in the early 2000s and I'm thinking all that torque would make for a really fun street truck. Your thread will be invaluable once I get started

I'm still digesting up to page 12, my interest in the steering gear conversion- contacted Borgeson about a simple adapter- they do make one.

We do have an adapter that will slide on the 17MM DD input shaft and convert it to a ¾”-30 spline. You will need to grind a flat on it to match the flat cast into the factory steering shaft. This piece does not have a distributed part number so you will need to give us a call to order, cost is $47.50, you can reach me at 860-482-8283 to order.

What a read. Nice bit of work you've done there. Really takes me back to my Eldo days. 73 drop top, white on red. Not much of a truck but sure was a boat.

So- received the adapter from Borgeson which you have to file a flat to match old splined input shaft. This should open up options for 88-98 trucks to 2007+ sometime later they switched from a 32 spline to a 33 spline output shaft.

I wish I had known about that adapter at the time. That would have made the swap easier. I may actually look into getting one because I have never found a good solution to make the boot at the firewall fully tight.

The Delphi box- is it just an evolution or a cheaper quality box?

I have upgraded to GMT900 brakes! These are the biggest that fit with a 17" wheel. Since I was already running GMT800 brakes, it was a snap to install. Only took about an hour. I need to bleed them a bit more but with the ALDL trick to cycle the ABS pump I should be able to get the trapped air out of the system completely.

13 inch rotors. They also use a much nicer PBR caliper with larger pistons. As far as I know the GMT900s all use the same front rotor, these came off a junkyard 2008 Yukon XL.
