Starter Troubles

I'm having some trouble getting my truck started. It try's to turn over about three times and then it just spins..

Is it going bad or what?

Battery could be dead or the starter could be going bad... have you tried jumping it?

A bad connection could do the same thing

I charged the battery last night. It could be a connection maybe.

if your talking about the starter (the drive gear) just turning but not the motor over, i would say the selinoid is bad. thats what kicks the drive gear into the flywheel

Can you replace those separately of the starter itself ?

solenoids can be changed separately, yes- that's the little cylinder attached to the starter
