Been a little bit since I've been all that active on here since the engine in my 96 finally gave up the ghost. Well, I've picked up another one to add to the fleet.

1994 GMC Sierra SLE. 5.7/4l60e
298k miles on original engine. Trans was rebuilt a few years before the truck was parked. Truck got parked for bad fuel mileage. Picked it up off of my dad. He moved a couple years back and when we went to move the truck, it was acting like it wasn't getting any fuel so we tried to bottle feed it, it backfired and burned up the injector harness. I've got new connectors and pigtails but haven't gotten around to installing them yet.

Plans for now are to get it running again with what it's got and swap my wheels and tires from my 96 onto it for now as I don't want to spend that much on a brand new set of tires again just yet.

Eventual plan is a big block, most likely a 454 and a non electronically controlled trans. Probably a 2 inch drop all the way around and coilovers. Interior is just about mint minus the dash as expected but I'll probably grab a repro dash from LMC when the time comes. Going to have it resprayed the factory blue and delete the side moulding as well.

Hoping this coming weekend to get a fresh battery in it, replace the injector harnesses and figure out why it wasn't getting fuel. Gonna be another fairly tight budget build as I'm now up to 4 trucks that need work/built.

Awesome....nice too keep it in the family. Never too many projects.... either have time or $$$ for them, but never both!!!!
This one and my 96 have both been in the family since 2004/2005. I always thought it was funny that though my parents divorced when I was a toddler, they both ended up buying gmt400s within a couple months of each other and I ended up with both of them somehow. These two trucks are what started my love for these things.

On the note of too many projects, this isn't near as bad as I was back in 2017/2018. Back then I I believe I had 8 or 9 vehicles and a motorcycle. I've toned it down a bit since then. Now I've just got these 2 400s, a '66 F-100 that was my great grandfather's and a '68 F-250 that I picked up last weekend.

Didn't get much done today. Had a bit of unplanned things pop up. Plus, the heat down here in southeast Texas is getting brutal. Did make a trip out to a buddies place where my 96 is sitting right now and got the wheels and tires swapped between the two trucks. Hopefully tomorrow, I'll be able to convince myself to get out of bed at a decent time and go down to O'Reillys to grab a few more things I'll need in an attempt to get this truck going again.

Finally got the truck fire up and run yesterday. I wrestled the tank for a little over an hour trying to get it out just to find that water had gotten in at one point and destroyed everything. Cleaned it out best I could, slapped a new pump, sending unit, and filter in. Fired right up like it hadn't sat the last 6 years. Even with just under 300,000 miles on the original engine, it still makes 50psi oil pressure cold and 40 hot. Gonna throw insurance on it at the end of the week and do registration early next week.
